Two well-established and well-known Ann Arbor area artists will give separate workshops this fall as part of a guest artist exhibit in the ACA Gallery.
Ceramicist Jeri Hollister will teach how to create vessels and sculptural forms using wheel-thrown parts. She will demonstrate a variety of techniques as well as talk about the evolution of her artistry. Participants will complete two to three works during the workshop. Hollister has been an instructor with the Ann Arbor Potters Guild, the Ann Arbor Art Center and the University of Michigan School of Art.he has exhibited throughout the U.S. and abroad. Figurative Painter Nora Venturelli will teach a one-day studio session focusing on drawing the figure from direct observation. With the application of different techniques, attendees will respond to quick gestures and progress to a longer pose focusing on composition, measurement, value and form. Venturelli is currently a Lecturer at the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art and Design where she teaches drawing and painting. Her work is in numerous private and public collections. She is represented by the WSG Gallery in Ann Arbor and exhibits internationally. Her workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25. Click here to register.
Hollister's and Venturelli’s workshops are made possible by a grant from the Sage Foundation. Their two-person show is Sept. 7 – Oct. 4 in the ACA Gallery. Hours at the Gallery are 1 – 4 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturdays.
