Master Class: Observational Painting with Tim Callaghan

Ages: 18+ years old
Work in plein air (weather permitting) or from plants and natural materials. Tim will teach his approach to painting in water-based media directly from observation.
His own work makes the most of pattern and color, capturing the energy of the particular and drawing on sensations “that escape the confines of photographic representation. …Chance… collaborate[s] with optics, creating an authentic experience that only working in a public space can offer. Painting is about describing the sensation of seeing and can be greatly influenced by allowing the other four senses [to] contribute.”
Supplies: Work on paper (provided, or bring your own preferred surface) with acrylic, gouache, or watercolor. Please bring your own pencils, paints and brushes, palette & mixing knife, rags/paper towels, and a can of water. Chairs & tabletop easels (& some full-size) will be provided. If you have a portable easel and want to work outdoors, bring it along.
