A Perspective on Perspective Drawing

January 31.  6 Saturdays - 9-12pm

For beginning and intermediate artists alike, this class demystifies the principles of one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective. Learn how to create convincing depth, dimension, and space in your drawings—making your compositions more dynamic and realistic.

Sometimes painting seems so fun, but you have no idea how to start. What colors do you use? How do you fill the canvas in an interesting way? What do you do with the background? During this class we will experiment with different color palettes and learn how to develop interesting colors. The focus will also be on developing interesting compositions that draw the eye through the canvas, have backgrounds that compliment the subject and feel well thought out. Throughout the class we will work with acrylic paint. Paint, brushes and  canvas panels will be available or you can bring your own. In the first class we will discuss materials and options.

Introduction to Figure Drawing

If drawing people feels complicated or intimidating, this class is the perfect place to start. Learn to simplify the human form by breaking down anatomy into basic shapes, forms, and proportions. Through guided instruction and practice, you’ll build confidence in capturing the figure with ease and accuracy.

Drawing for the Beginner

Unlock the mystery and magic of drawing! Through demonstrations and hands-on exercises, you’ll learn the fundamentals of line, cross-contour, shape, form, and value. This class will help you develop a strong foundation and a deeper understanding of how to see—and draw—the world around you.

Mixed Media Explorations

Mondays 6:30-9 pm Jan 26-Feb 23          

Let your creativity loose in this playful series of classes as we experiment with a variety of media and explore a world of possibilities. You may be afraid to take an art class, believing you need to know how to draw. Maybe you have a playful spirit but don't know where to start. Perhaps you just want to try something new. In this series or classes we will work with different media every week to develop a variety of artworks, from landscape or animals to abstracts. You won't know from week to week what to expect...that is part of the fun!
