Earth Day Hypertufa Pots

with Julia Tomaro

April 20th, 2024

$50 More Info

Hyperturfa pots are eco-friendly and good for outside plantings. Hyperturfa pots are made by mixing cement, vermiculite, and peat into a slurry. Then, participants will drape old towels, like beach towels or bath towels, into the slurry. Then, the towels will be placed upside down over a form to dry. Drying takes 3-4 days depending on weather. Participants will need to return to pick up their pot or come in a car that is lined with plastic so cement doesn’t get all over the car.

Please bring an old towel or several. We can make several pots of different sizes. In addition, if you have a large plant pot that you would like to use as a form you may want to bring that also. It will not get ruined because we will cover it with plastic. Bring rubber or vinyl gloves to protect your hands from cement abrasions. Class limit 6 Suggested for Ages Teens-Adult
