Studio Visit: Pi Benio

Pi has maintained a studio on various locations on E Maumee since she arrived in town to teach at Adrian College, lets say, a while ago. Her work has been shown in a one person exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Art and also in New York, Chicago, Japan and Canada. A sculptor, Pi has worked in a dizzying array of materials and techniques. Her latest work uses driftwood in meticulous suspended structures inspired by the book The Hidden Life of Trees. See and hear about the work and processes froma life long artist and arts educator. Nosh by super chefs Julia Tomaro and Mike Jacobitz (AKA) Mr Benio included.  Thurs May 2, 5:30-7:30, presentation at 6:15.

The fluid nature of acrylic puring allows us to release control and go with the flow. The splatters and blows of the paint crosses the surface creating something beautiful and unexpected.
