Bouquet of fall leaves, acorns and seed pods!  In this fun and fast-paced workshop, students will work with molten glass on the end of a wire to create delicate sculptural forms inspired by nature.  From flowers to whimsical organic shapes, each piece will come together into a beautiful take-home bouquet. A playful and creative class that’s perfect for all experience levels—and a wonderful way to experience the expressive side of glass.

Torch Enameled Copper Shapes for Jewelry I

This is a make-and-take class. Use a stationary torch to create enameled copper shapes for earrings and other jewelry. Basic torch safety will be discussed. Several techniques will be explored, including cutouts, sgraffito, and color blending. All materials are included.

IMPORTANT: Students taking glass courses using a torch must wear natural fiber clothing (i.e., cotton shirt and denim jeans), closed-toe shoes, and hair tied back and out of the way. Loose clothing that will be in the way of the torch is strongly discouraged. Please wear clothing that is not essential to your wardrobe. AN N95 RESPIRATION MASK IS REQUIRED

Inspired by Nature Glass Icicle Ornaments

Make your own crystal clear, sparkling glass icicle ornaments inspired by nature!. These are beautiful when hung on your tree, catching and reflecting the lights in all directions. We will discuss basic safety techniques for the studio as well as work in the oxygen-fuel torch using borosilicate glass to practice making loops for the top of the ornament as well as make the ornament itself.

Blown Glass Ornaments Using Glaskolben

Try your hand at making blown-glass ornaments. Using an oxygen-propane torch, students will learn basic techniques for using pre-blown glaskolben to make blown-glass ornaments. Frit will be used to add color to the clear glaskolben. Learning how to control heat, gravity and blowing techniques will determine your success.

Creating these colorful ornaments will provide students a basis for working glass further in the torch. Each student will be provided 6 glaskolben. When you pick up your ornaments, be sure to bring packing material and a small container to transport your ornaments to the safety of your home. Basic torch safety will be discussed.
